Thank You, From The 49er HBA

I would like to thank all the dealers and those who displayed, that help make the show a success. We really do have some great people in this hobby who really love our show, and its just not the bottle community. THANK YOU!  I would also like to personally thank Max Bell, Dan Bell and Warren Freidrick and club members on their support for this huge move to a new venue. It was not an easy job. I also would like to thank our devoted members and nonmembers who help before, during and after the show. They are part of the back bone of the show and are a huge help. Max Bell, Dan Bell, Warren Freidrick, Steve Abbott, George Wagoner, Rick Pisano, The Meyer Gang Pat, Dan and Gary, Frank Lonteen, Mike Henness, Herb Yue, Mike Lake, John McCabe, Gregg Smith, Jimmy Kuykendall Mom, Katherine Merwin.  THANK YOU!  

Next year is going to be bigger and better. We will be pushing for 150 dealers and go to a one day show on Saturday with a dealer only dinner/ auction on Friday. More details will come by next year. Roseville will be home for the next 10 - 15 years.   The show will be called from here on out as the,

  4. Did I read correctly, a one day only Saturday Show? A one day only Show is one step closer to the GRAVE!
    You went to a new smaller venue with less Dealers, tighter quarters, and tougher to find, and now You want
    to make the show a Saturday only Show? not good, the 49er Show is one of the last good Western Shows left
    besides Reno, You should leave it as a Friday & Saturday Show. What about the Dealers and Folks who come
    from other States, do you think they are going to come for a one day Show, WRONG...

  5. I think you read it correctly. A one day show with a dealer dinner/auction on Friday. So it's going to take a page from the Downieville show, another great western show. Wouldn't that allow for MORE travel time for dealers coming out of state? And I seriously doubt a more condensed show will affect sales. If I really like a bottle at a show, I'm probably going to snatch it up within minutes. I don't need 2 full days of a show to make up my mind. Sleeping on a decision either means you don't want the bottle bad enough or that it will be gone by day 2 after another buyer pulls the trigger.

    I think this kind of move and planning are what the hobby needs to stay alive. Most Bottle Clubs & Bottle Shows have slowly been eroding over the past decade or so....Doing the same thing and expecting the same or better results is not a sustainable strategy. I support the idea to try something a bit different, despite how fond I'll always be of the many Auburn shows I attended in the past. I'm looking forward to hanging out with ya'll next year at the Friday Dinner.

  6. YES! YES! YES! Now that's what I'm talking about. As for the other replier, we will have 150 tables full with dealers from all over the country before next years event. How's that small. The dinner/auction Friday, is one way to give back to our dealers who travel so far. Trust me, this is going to be something people talk about for years. "If you have a positive mind, positive thinks happen"

  7. We are considering many ways to try to improve our show. The board will be meeting in January to decide on what changes will be made. It's always interesting to read other peoples thoughts on what we should do. There are some really wanting a one day Saturday show. Our venue had 15 tables fewer in one building than we had in 2 buildings at Auburn. Also we heard how difficult to find the Auburn fairgrounds was the 1st few times people attended there. It got easier to find after coming for many years. The attendance and sales this year was outstanding even with the freezing temperatures and low snow that kept some from attending. I`ve talked to a few older dealers they are not real happy about a one day show they don't really care about the auction and there wont be a lot of time to visit or relax and it is suppose to be fun not just hurry up set up sell and take down that's a lot for older people to do and it really doesn`t matter to me I only make Saturday anyway so might be better for me and will there be and early lookers form 8-10. Just like to say the move to Roseville was good. Bill Curtiss

  9. Thanks Bill for the input. We are considering several options with our show since our waiting list for dealers was almost 30. We as a club have not made final decisions on anything. The show just ended and we will begin planning for next year in January. We will make any announcements about changes well in advance of the show. MAX
