It was tough to choose a category for our first competitive showdown, that not only would it knock your socks off, but that would best represent the colors of Christmas. The IXL was at the top of the list. The category will change each year. We could have a Dr. Henley's showdown with all his products as categories, and a coin made for each one.(a little to much?) Next years thought is to have a Phoenix Showdown with two winning bottles, the best flask, and the best cylinder. I plan on keeping the showdown a yearly event, its for the fun of the hobby.California Kidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04772286674436000608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6842291092692051858.post-30188092725769902592010-11-12T14:19:12.229-08:002010-11-12T14:19:12.229-08:00Maybe even the best aqua example? One of the forks weight 175 lbs, dressed. I lost my camera on 10/24 and didn't find it until 10/29. It laid out there on a lava slab in all sorts of weather, was soaked and all fogged up, but it dried out fine. Plenty meat in the freezer from two bucks this year.

Now, it's time to DIG and hunt ducks. We dug a '60-'70s pit in Sac last Friday, but it was Chinese. All bottles smashed to smithereens. The only survivors were a couple of "kiss of death" bean pots. At least they were the older ones with nice glaze and crooked spout. Knowing that Celestials trashed all glass I didn't even want to dig it, but my buddy insisted on "going the distance". Good thing it was only 4' deep. It was killin' me to dig that time waster, that's for sure.Mike Dolcinihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08100009168892063834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6842291092692051858.post-79418402896696854252010-11-07T09:08:50.443-08:002010-11-07T09:08:50.443-08:00Hey Mike,

The idea was to draw a bottle on call and place it on the table to be judged. There was definitely a strategy to it in trying to "draw" the best bottle each time. that is where the heavy interest in Lyon's Powders began. Myself, Louie Pellegrini, and "The Hag" were the major collectors at the time. Finding a "new" color of those little gems is very difficult these days.Mike Dolcinihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08100009168892063834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6842291092692051858.post-62691142424180200932010-11-07T07:21:13.408-08:002010-11-07T07:21:13.408-08:00Hey Rick- That's the best darn laugh I've ...Hey Rick- That's the best darn laugh I've had in a long time- at myself! I remember Jim Hagenbuch(Glass Works Aucts.) being famous for his participation in BUG-BOTTLE(Lyons powders) shoot-outs!
